The Beekman 1802 Heirloom Cookbook:
Reviewed by Caitlin Cooks
Who are the “Beekman Boys?”
Josh Kilmer-Purcell (a best-selling author) and Brent Ridge (a physician, who also worked for Martha Stewart). They have a reality-TV show on Discovery Channel and the NY Times calls them the “Gay Green Acres.” They’re novice farmers and the show captures their experiences on their farm “Beekman 1802”.
Here are some of their signature products from the farm:
– Cajeta: caramel sauce made with goat’s milk, pure cane sugar and vanilla beans.
– Onion Jam: Locally grown onions and maple syrup – perfect addition to your holiday cheese plate.
– Rosemary Creamed Honey: Raw honey spread infused with a bouquet of rosemary.
The cookbook…
This is a great holiday gift! I love, love, love that they have space on the side for you to take notes. I’m notorious for writing in my cookbooks and leaving notes all over the place. This keeps the book clean and allows you to mark your favorite recipes and make alterations. The pictures are beautiful and the recipes are rustic and make me feel like I’m right on the farm with them!
