Matcha is made from tea leaves which have been finely powdered into a solution. I usually blend matcha with pineapple juice and pour over ice or create the smoothie below for a filling and energizing breakfast. Because this is a “whole” leaf product it can have three times the caffeine of a cup of steeped tea. It can be equivalent to a cup of coffee based on how it’s brewed. The big difference vs. coffee is that matcha creates an “alert calm” due to a natural substance it contains called l-theanine, which induces relaxation without drowsiness.
You’ll Need:
1 tsp matcha tea
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1T honey
1c coconut milk, chilled
5 ice cubes
Make It:
Blend all ingredients and enjoy! Xo
Matcha DNA is organic and 100% authentic (this is important when selecting matcha since lead is a concern). It has a very smooth finish with no bitter traces. Be careful and curious about cheaper options in the matcha tea arena as they are quite a high volume of shady companies trying to capitalize off of the matcha trend with an inferior product.
