Collagen Coffee

DSC01035There’s lots of beauty buzz on collagen these days! And for good reason.  I swear by my Vital Proteins, but being a coffee lover – I had to get on the collagen coffee train. Collagens rise to fame is its ability to promote glowing, vibrant skin. It is a protein that provides elasticity to the skin, helping it to appear more youthful and glowy. But as you get older (bleh, thanks life) a decline in collagen production causes annoying fine lines, loose skin, and dryness can occur. I’m terrified of getting botox and injecting unnatural junk into the skin, not to mention I like laugh lines and normal face movement 🙂 So if there’s a product that can help enhance youth minus the needle, sign me up! Collagen also is said to help your skin, improve joint health, and assist with gastrointestinal distress. The powdered form of collagen is tasteless, colorless and therefore, a great partner for coffee. Dr. Kellyann makes individual packets of “on the go” collagen coffee, that were too cute not to pass up. Each box has 15 single serve packets that you can just mix with hot water.

Made from 100% Brazilian Coffee Beans microground for a smooth, light coffee flavor with subtle hints of chocolate. It’s very smooth, you typically get acid from many instant coffees. There are no added sugars, sweeteners, or sugar alcohols. You can use their little collagen creamer packs for added flavor and richness. Dr. Kellyann focuses on gut health, my favorite excerpt from her site…
“I’ll say it over and over until I’m blue in the face: health and illness starts in your gut. In fact, a study has shown that people who suffer from IBS and gut inflammation have lower levels of collagen… so increasing your collagen could have a very real, positive effect on your gut health! (And poor gut health has been linked to a host of other conditions!” Case in point, collagen is for much more than just looks. Her site also lists all of the BENEFITS of coffee. Yes, you heard that right – the many benefits! An excuse to drink more coffee?! Hi, yes! Music to my ears!
Coffee has been associated with multiple benefits throughout your entire body, including:

  • Reduced risk for arrhythmia3
  • Reduced risk for liver disease4
  • Decreased cancer risk5
  • Lower incidence of type 2 diabetes6
